Hi all,
I am wondering how reliable people find the odeo led flare. I dug mine out after last checking it a few months ago and it isn’t working despite a battery change.

Does anyone else find it is problematic ?

Thanks

Rob

Bought it 18 months ago for the level 4 assessment. Luckily ch marine are taking it back to have a look and maybe replace. I was paranoid checking I hadn’t the batteries in the wrong way round !

Hi Robert,

The similar situation here: after less than a year of owning a "Odeo Distress LED Flare with Infra Red & Lithium Batteries Included", it has stopped working. No signs of rust or water damage, batteries are still at full capacity (now have a set of spare lithium batteries).

Sent it back and got a replacement from CHMarine. Not very reliable device after all. I am now checking it each time before and after a trip.

I've been through two of these, Rob, and have had the same issue. CH Marine replaced the first one and the replacement failed soon after. I didn't bother after that. Seems to be a problem with (a very fragile) switching mechanism. Best avoided I think. It might last longer if you keep your flare safely stashed away in a hatch, and not on your person, but that kinda defeats the purpose.

Would love to know if anyone has identified a robust and reliable alternative?
