The software that runs this forum was upgraded in mid-December. The method to insert a picture into a forum posting has changed slightly, but is now much easier.
Summary of changes:
- Pictures are now uploaded using the "attachments" box at the bottom of the forum posting form, instead of the dedicated "images" box of the old forum.
- Multiple pictures can be uploaded to a single posting. (Previously only a single picture per posting was permitted.)
- Pictures larger than 480 x 640 pixels (w x h) will be automatically downsized to fit these dimensions. (Previously users were required to downsize manually, offline.)
- Picture files can be up to 8MB in size! (Previously limit was 150KB).
How to insert a picture
- Click the "Add File" button in the attachments box at the bottom of the forum posting form.
- Browse and select the picture file that you want to upload. It must have a .jpeg, .jpg, .png or .gif extension and be no bigger than 8,192KB in size.
- Position the cursor in the message window where you want the picture to appear.
- In the attachments box, click the "Insert" button to the right of the picture that you want to insert.
- Repeat steps 1-4 to add further picturess to the message, if required.
- Complete your message and submit.
Further notes
- Large image files take a noticeable period of time to upload and downsize, perhaps several minutes for a maximum size file and a slow connection. After clicking the submit button for your forum posting, please wait patiently and don't click back, or navigate away from the form page!
- If your image file is larger than 8,192KB in size, you will still have to downsize it manually. See how to easily resize your pictures for forum postings.
- You can still insert gallery pictures into forum postings using "method 1" of this posting
.
This was uploaded as a 4,100KB picture file in JPEG format and was automatically downsized to fit the posting:
