We are pleased to launch our next set of training courses for the club.
To encourage individuals and to help the club grow, we have negotiated the best
possible prices from the course providers and then included club subsidies.
So if you are developing your skills or are already at a certain level but have
never done the course, here is your chance!
 
ICU Level 3  
15 and 16 October
Location: Dun Laoghaire
Cost: €48
The Level 3 Sea-kayaking Skills Award aims to enable participants to:
Kayak safely and competently on the
sea as a member of a group being led.
Paddle competently in following winds, head winds and beams
winds of up to force three.
Assist in rescues.
Have an understanding of the importance of weather as a factor in kayaking on
the sea.
ICU Level 4 
Indoor sessions:
Great Outdoors Shop, Dublin on Tues 11th and Tues 18th October 6.30-9.30pm.
Outdoor session:
Sat 22 October
Location: Howth
Cost: €58
The Level 4 Sea Kayaking Skills
Award aims to ensure that successful candidates have sufficient skill and
knowledge to competently and safely undertake sea journeys in moderate sea
conditions as part of a group. As part of a group candidates will be:
Able to kayak safely and competently
on the Sea up to and including force 4 conditions, including overfalls and tide
races.
Be capable of negotiating obstacles likely to be encountered in such
conditions.
Able to deal competently with rescue situations that might occur in these
conditions.
Develop group awareness.
VHF 1&2 
14 and 15 October
Friday 18:30 - 22:30
Saturday 15th 09:00 - 17:30
This will take place in the Irish Canoe Union premises. http://www.canoe.ie/en-us/contacts.aspx
Cost: €135
Full VHF operator certificate (SRC
modules 1 and 2), including use of VHF-DSC, EPIRB, SART. Suitable for offshore
up to 30 miles from the coast and inland waterways. 10 hours of hands-on
instruction followed by exam
 
 
Yoga classes (but not subsidised)
A great way to get flexible and
improve kayaking techniques while on dry land!
Run by aspirant kayaker Uta Kaiser are being held in Dalkey. There are also
drop in rates for those who can't sign up for a whole set of classes.
